BURNOUT
ABSTRACT: Burnout is a syndrome seen as a process consisting of three dimensions (professional exhaustion, depersonalization and low personal accomplishment). Changes in its original conception - the emphasis was on health professionals, education and personal work - occurred over the years so that today it is understood that the syndrome can occur in individuals of any occupation, including during the pre-professional. The medical profession has a high index of individuals with some level of burnout, due to both the characteristics of this activity and the recent changes in medical practice. Research on this syndrome are pretty slim, taking into account the importance of early diagnosis to prevent the depersonalization of the doctor-patient relationship.
